Quick answer
Spanish lessons for couples in Málaga cost €310 for 10 hours, €560 for 20 hours or €740 for 30 hours in our Friends and Family private group class, priced for the two of you together, not per person: roughly €12 to €16 an hour each, about half the cost of two solo private packs. It suits a couple or two friends at a similar level.

What is a private group class for couples or friends in Málaga?
Our Friends and Family private group class is a private class priced for two people who want to learn together rather than join a mixed group of strangers or each book a separate private tutor. It uses the same one-to-one teaching style as our individual private lessons: a teacher builds the plan around your shared goal, whether that is everyday conversation, a trip you are both preparing for, or simply wanting to practise together at home afterwards. The difference from a solo private pack is in the price: it is one fee for the whole pair, not one fee each.
That single detail changes the maths completely, which is why this post is mostly about numbers rather than persuasion. Learning as a couple or with a friend is not automatically cheaper or better than going it alone or joining a group. It depends on your levels, your goal and how much you value having the class to just the two of you.
How much does a private group class cost for two people?
The prices on our Málaga prices page are set for the pair, not per person:
| Pack (for 2 people) | Total price | Per person | Per person, per hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 hours | €310 | €155 | €15.50 |
| 20 hours | €560 | €280 | €14 |
| 30 hours | €740 | €370 | €12.33 |
Compare that with booking two separate solo private packs, where each of you pays individually:
| Pack (each, solo) | Price each | Two people, total |
|---|---|---|
| 10 hours | €300 | €600 |
| 20 hours | €560 | €1,120 |
| 30 hours | €780 | €1,560 |
Sharing a private class saves a real amount: a 10-hour pack for two drops from €600 (two solo packs) to €310 together, a 20-hour pack from €1,120 to €560 (exactly half), and a 30-hour pack from €1,560 to €740. The saving grows with the pack size. The trade-off is attention, not hours: you both sit in all ten (or twenty, or thirty) hours, but the teacher’s attention and the speaking time are split between two people instead of focused on one.

Private group vs joining Intensive together: which is better value?
If neither of you needs privacy, joining our Intensive group course together is usually the cheapest way to learn as a pair, because the price per class hour keeps falling the longer you stay, and Intensive is priced per person regardless of how many friends enrol alongside you:

| Format | Hours | Price (2 people, 1 week equivalent) | Who you share the class with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intensive group, 1 week | 20 hours each | €400 total (€200 each) | 3 to 5 students on average, never more than 7 |
| Friends and Family, 20 hours | 20 hours shared between you | €560 total | Just the two of you |
In both cases each of you sits in 20 hours of class. Intensive costs €400 for the pair and Friends and Family €560, so Intensive wins on price and gives you classmates to practise with. Friends and Family wins on attention and flexibility: the teacher’s time is split two ways instead of up to seven, the plan is built only around the two of you, and there is no fixed timetable to match.
A middle path: join Intensive together for the group hours and lower price, then add a short Friends and Family block afterwards for anything you specifically want to work on as a pair, such as practising for a trip or a family event. What if you and your partner, or you and your friend, are at different levels?
This is the key question for a shared class, and the honest answer is that it works best when you are at a similar level, ideally the same CEFR level (for example both somewhere in A2). The teacher has one group to plan for, and if the gap is wide, one of you ends up waiting while the other catches up, or vice versa.
If your levels are further apart, a few options tend to work better than forcing one shared class:
- A short catch-up first. A small private pack (5 or 10 hours) for whichever of you is behind, before you start the shared Friends and Family hours together.
- Two separate solo private packs. More expensive per hour than sharing, but each of you moves at your own pace from day one. Our private one-to-one Spanish lessons page has the full pricing by pack size.
- One of you in Intensive, the other private. If one partner wants the structure and pace of a group and the other is at an unusual level for the current groups, this keeps both of you progressing without waiting on each other.
If you are not sure which of these fits, ask us before you book: tell us both your levels (our free level test takes a few minutes each) and we will tell you honestly whether a shared class makes sense for you or whether one of the alternatives above will serve you better.
What does a private group lesson actually look like?
Friends and Family lessons follow the same practical rules as our solo private lessons: sessions of 1 to 3 hours, placed Monday to Friday, with no enrolment fee and no materials fee on top of the pack price. You choose the pace: some pairs take two 2-hour sessions a week over several weeks, others book an intensive block of daily sessions across a short stay.
Because it is one class for two people rather than two individual classes, a few practical details follow from that:
- A certificate for each of you. Plan and pacing are shared, but at the end of each level each of you receives your own ¡Vamos! Academy certificate, with 85% attendance needed.
- Rescheduling needs both of you. As with any private lesson, giving 24 hours’ notice lets a session move to another date instead of being lost, but because it is a shared booking, moving a session usually needs to work for both of your schedules.
- The weekly activities are included anyway. A tuk-tuk ride (small fee), a workshop, an old town tour, a flamenco introduction and Friday tapas (you pay for your own) run every week for all our students, private or group, so you get a social side to the week even if your classes are just the two of you.

What does it cost in total: worked budgets for a week away together
If you are planning a trip around the course rather than already living in Málaga, here are complete examples for two people, course and accommodation included, with one airport transfer (€65; check with us whether one transfer covers you both):
| Plan | Course (2 people) | Accommodation, 1 week (2 people) | Transfer | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Friends and Family, 10 hours + homestay shared rooms | €310 | €478 (€239 each) | €65 | €853 |
| Friends and Family, 20 hours + student residence, shared rooms | €560 | €440 (€220 each) | €65 | €1,065 |
| Intensive, 1 week (both) + homestay shared rooms | €400 | €478 (€239 each) | €65 | €943 |
| Friends and Family, 20 hours + private apartment, 1 week | €560 | €400 | €65 | €1,025 |
These examples count homestay and residence rooms per person per week, as listed on our prices page, and the one-bedroom apartment (€400 a week) as one unit for the two of you. Tell us you are travelling together and confirm how the room or apartment is priced for two before you book. Flights and daily spending are extra. For longer stays, the price per week falls for every option: the course total calculator works out your exact total for any number of weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Can couples take Spanish classes together in Málaga?
Yes. Our Friends and Family course is a private class for two people, priced as one fee for the pair: €310 for 10 hours, €560 for 20 hours, €740 for 30 hours, built around your shared goal and schedule.
Is it cheaper to learn Spanish as a couple?
Sharing a private class is cheaper than buying two solo private packs: a 20-hour pack costs €560 shared against €1,120 for two separate 20-hour packs. It is usually more expensive per hour than joining the Intensive group course together, which is priced per person however many of you enrol.
Do my partner and I need to be at the same Spanish level?
Not identical, but close. A shared class works best when you are at a similar level, ideally the same CEFR level. If your levels differ a lot, a short private catch-up for one of you, or two separate packs, usually works better than one shared class.
How many hours of private group class do we need?
It depends on your goal. A 10-hour pack suits a short stay or a specific goal, such as preparing for a trip together. For ongoing conversational progress, 20 to 30 hours gives more time to build on what you cover from one session to the next.
Can two friends book a private group class, or only couples?
Yes, the course is for friends and family as well as couples. The prices on our prices page are for 2 people; if three or more of you want to learn together, ask us for a quote.
What is the difference between a private group class and Intensive?
Intensive is a group course of 3 to 5 students on average, at a fixed morning timetable, priced per person. A private group class is just the two of you with your own teacher, with no fixed timetable, priced once for the pair.
Can we take private group classes and Intensive classes at the same time?
Yes, you can add Friends and Family hours for the two of you on top of the Intensive mornings. Super Intensive (Intensive plus 5 private hours a week, €99 more a week) is the ready-made combination, but its private hours are for one student each, not shared. Ask us which combination suits two people best for your dates.
What happens if we need to cancel or move a session?
Giving 24 hours’ notice lets a session move to another date instead of being lost. Because the booking is shared, a change usually needs to suit both of your schedules.
Do private group classes include a certificate?
Yes. At the end of each level, each of you receives a ¡Vamos! Academy certificate aligned with the CEFR, with 85% attendance needed.
