Current law is our weapon

Rules change fast. These three pages carry the figures verified this month, not from 2022 or 2024.

New 2026

Regularization 2026, live window

RD 316/2026 opened a time-limited path for foreigners already in Spain without papers. Criminal record certificates from every country of the last 5 years are required: we coordinate the whole chain.

Abolished Apr 2025

Golden visa abolished, what now

The investor visa is gone for new applicants since 3 April 2025. We help legacy holders renew and help everyone else find the active route that fits, usually the non-lucrative or digital nomad visa.

Moratorium

Tourist licence moratorium, Malaga

Malaga city has frozen new VUT registrations in defined zones. Before you buy or apply, get a feasibility report on the exact address, from 150 euros.

Your lawyer

Meet Raquel Cobos

RC
Raquel Cobos
Abogada colegiada, English and Spanish

Raquel Cobos is an abogada colegiada practising immigration and real estate law in Malaga. She works directly with clients in English and Spanish, at VAMOS Academy Malaga, the language school that has served the city’s international community since 2009. Raquel handles visas, residency, arraigo, citizenship, and property files personally rather than passing them to a caseworker, and takes legal responsibility for every case she advises on, from a first free call through to appeal if one is ever needed. Clients often combine a legal appointment with a Spanish class in the same building.

Why families and remote workers choose a Malaga abogada over a national platform

Most of the firms that rank for “immigration lawyer spain” operate out of Barcelona or Madrid with no local presence south of the capital, or they are multi-country platforms that treat Spain as one market among seven. None of them publish a complete price list, and several still show visa figures that were current in 2022, not 2026. VAMOS is built the other way round: one named lawyer, one office on Calle Reding 6, fixed fees you can read before you call, and figures we refresh every time the law changes, because we watch it happen from inside Malaga’s own extranjeria queue.

  • A colegiada who can also litigate an appeal, not just a gestor who files forms
  • Every fee published on the page before you book a call
  • Local knowledge of Malaga’s cita previa backlog and the city’s tourist licence moratorium
  • English and Spanish spoken daily, not translated after the fact

Figures on this page were verified in July 2026 against RD 1155/2024 (in force since 20 May 2025), the abolition of the golden visa (3 April 2025), and RD 316/2026’s extraordinary regularization window.

How the Malaga office fits into the bigger picture

Malaga, Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos, and Nerja all file extranjeria paperwork through the same provincial office, so a Malaga-based abogada with an established relationship there serves the whole Costa del Sol, not just the city centre. Clients living anywhere along the coast, or planning to move here, get the same fixed fees and the same direct line to Raquel rather than being routed to whichever associate is available that week. For clients who are not yet in Spain, the free call and document checklist work equally well over video, and many files begin with a power of attorney signed before the client ever lands.

FAQs

Common questions about Spain legal services

How much does an immigration lawyer cost in Spain?

Our fees are fixed and published on every service page, from 80 euros for empadronamiento support up to about 1,800 euros minimum for full property purchase representation. Government tasas are always small and separate, and you get a written quote before anything is billed.

What is the difference between a gestor and a lawyer in Spain?

A gestor manages paperwork and filings but cannot represent you in court or give binding legal advice. Raquel Cobos is an abogada colegiada, a registered lawyer, so she can also appeal a denial, defend your case if a problem comes up, and take legal responsibility for the advice she gives you.

Do I need a lawyer to move to Spain?

You are not legally required to hire one for most procedures, but visa and residency rules changed materially in 2025 and 2026, and a single missing document or wrong route can cost months. Most clients hire us once, then handle simple follow-ups themselves with our checklist.

Is the first call really free?

Yes. The 10-minute triage call costs nothing and carries no obligation. We use it to confirm which route fits your situation and give you a fixed quote and document checklist before you decide anything.

What languages do you work in?

English and Spanish, spoken and written, in every meeting, email, and legal document, so you always understand exactly what you are signing.

Where is your office?

Calle Reding 6, 29016 Malaga, in the La Malagueta neighbourhood, inside VAMOS Academy Malaga, a short walk from the historic centre and the port. Video calls are available for remote and international clients.

How fast can you file my case?

Most files start within a week of your free call once documents are gathered, and we reply to messages within 24 hours. Processing times after filing depend on the government office, not on us, and we tell you the realistic range for your specific procedure upfront.

What does a fixed fee actually mean?

It means the number on our price table is the total professional fee for that service, agreed in writing before we start. Government tasas, notary costs, and third-party fees like sworn translations are separate and small, and we tell you those figures too, so there are no surprise invoices.

Can you help me before I arrive in Spain?

Yes. Many clients start with a video call from abroad, send documents electronically, and grant power of attorney so we can begin filing before they land, which is common for the non-lucrative visa, digital nomad visa, and property purchases.

Which visa or route is right for me?

It depends on your income source, nationality, family situation, and whether you are already in Spain. Retirees and remote workers usually look at the non-lucrative or digital nomad visa, people already here without papers usually look at arraigo, and the free 10-minute call is built to point you to the right one quickly.

What changed with the 2026 regularization?

Royal Decree 316/2026 opened a time-limited extraordinary regularization window for foreigners already living in Spain without valid papers, requiring clean criminal record certificates from Spain, your country of origin, and every country you lived in over the last 5 years. It runs alongside the existing arraigo routes reformed in May 2025.

Is the golden visa still available?

No. Spain abolished the investor golden visa for new applications on 3 April 2025. Only renewals of permits granted before that date continue under transitional rules. We help legacy holders with renewals and with switching to an active route such as the non-lucrative or digital nomad visa.
