What Does a Family Spanish Course in Málaga Look Like?

Quick answer

A family Spanish course in Málaga means your teenager joins the morning course, younger children go to the kids camp, and you take an Intensive or Private course yourself, all with the same school. One worked week, with a teen in class, a child in the afternoon camp, one parent in Intensive, a one-bedroom apartment and an airport transfer, comes to €1,115.

Can a whole family really learn Spanish together in Málaga?

Yes, and our school offers exactly this split: your teenager studies in the morning classes at our school in La Malagueta, younger children go to the kids camp, and you take a course of your own. Our Teens & Juniors page states this directly: “spending the summer on the Costa del Sol? Your teen joins our morning classes while you enjoy the city. Younger brothers and sisters (6 to 12) can join our kids camp, and parents can take a Spanish class too.” Nobody has to sit out, and nobody has to carry the whole holiday on one adult’s Spanish.

The useful detail hiding in that split is the timetable. Our teens course and our adult Intensive course both run Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 13:30, so a parent and a teenager studying at the same time finish at the same time, every day, and the afternoon is free for the whole family together. If your children are in the kids camp as well, their hours depend on which camp you choose, covered below.

Which course fits each person in the family?

Three different age groups, three different products, all booked with the same school.

Who Course Hours Price
Teenager, 13 to 17 Teens & Juniors 20 hours a week, Mon to Fri 9:30 to 13:30 €200 for 1 week
Child, 6 to 12 Kids camp Morning, afternoon, evening or full-time €225 to €440 a week
Child (one-to-one) Kids private lessons 1 to 30 hours, your own pace from €30 an hour
Adult Intensive 20 hours a week, Mon to Fri 9:30 to 13:30 €200 for 1 week
Adult Private 1-on-1 1 to 50 hours, times you choose €35 an hour (single), from €24 an hour in packs

There is no enrolment fee or materials fee on any of these. The teens course and the adult Intensive course are formed by level, not by age, so a parent and a teenager share a classroom only if they are placed at the same level, but they finish class at the same moment.

What does the kids camp actually include?

The camp is for children aged 6 to 12 and runs in summer and winter, so for an Easter or autumn trip ask us first. You choose from 1 to 8 weeks at the same price every week, which is different from the courses above: the adult and teen courses cost less per week the longer you stay, but the kids camp price per week does not change whether you book one week or eight.

Camp Price Weeks
Morning camp €250 a week 1 to 8
Afternoon camp €250 a week 1 to 8
Evening camp €225 a week 1 to 8
Full-time camp €440 a week 1 to 8

Our pricing page names these four camp blocks (morning, afternoon, evening and full-time) and their weekly prices, but it does not publish the exact clock times for each one, so if your family’s schedule needs an exact start and finish time to line up with the teens course or your own class, ask us directly when you book rather than assuming a particular block matches 9:30 to 13:30. If your younger child would rather have one-to-one lessons instead of a group camp, kids private lessons run from €30 an hour for a single lesson down to €20 an hour on a 30-hour pack, bookable 1 to 30 hours at your own pace.

Which Spanish course should the parents take?

That depends on your schedule and your goal, and our pricing page sets out both adult options side by side. The Intensive group course is 20 hours a week in a small class of 3 to 5 students on average (never more than 7), Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 13:30, at €200 for one week, dropping to €185 a week over four weeks. It is the course that lines up exactly with the teens course timetable, which matters if you want to arrive and leave the school together every day.

Private 1-on-1 lessons suit a parent with a narrower goal or a less regular schedule: a single hour is €35, and packs get cheaper per hour the bigger they are, from €32 an hour on a 5-hour pack down to €24 an hour on a 50-hour pack. A 10-hour pack is €300, which is enough for two hours a day over the same week your teenager is in morning classes, without committing to the full 20 hours of the Intensive course. One parent in Intensive and the other free for the kids camp drop-off and pickup is one way to split it; either way, you book every course with the same school.

If a parent and a teenager want to learn side by side, our Friends and family private class puts the two of you in a class of your own: €310 for 10 hours or €560 for 20 hours, one price for two people. A lighter group option for a parent is the Semi-intensive course, 10 hours a week, at €140 for one week.

Where does the family stay?

If you are travelling to Málaga together, you do not need our student accommodation at all for your teenager: they simply join the morning classes and go home with you each evening, as our teens page states plainly. For the family’s own accommodation, our pricing page lists a private one-bedroom apartment at €400 a week (€1,600 for 4 weeks), alongside the student residence and homestay rooms built for individual students. If your family needs more space than a one-bedroom apartment, ask us directly: that detail is not broken out on our pages, so we would rather tell you what is actually available for your dates than have you guess from a single line item.

What does a family week in Málaga actually cost?

Add up what each family member is actually doing and the total is exact, built entirely from our published per-person prices, not a package deal. Here is one realistic week: a teenager in the 20-hour course, a younger child in the afternoon camp, one parent in the Intensive course, the second parent in a 10-hour Private pack, a one-bedroom apartment for the week and one airport transfer on arrival.

What Who Price
Teens course, 20 hours 1 teenager (13 to 17) €200
Afternoon camp 1 child (6 to 12) €250
Intensive course, 20 hours 1 parent €200
Private Spanish, 10-hour pack 1 parent €300
One-bedroom apartment, 1 week Whole family €400
Airport transfer, on arrival Whole family €65
Total, 1 week €1,415

Two adjustments bring that down. If only one parent wants lessons that week, drop the second parent’s Private pack and the total falls to €1,115. If that one parent prefers a 5-hour Private pack (€160) to the Intensive course (€200), the week comes to €1,075. None of these totals include flights, insurance or spending money, and none of them include an enrolment or materials fee, because there is not one.

Does a longer stay change the maths?

For the teenager’s and the parents’ courses, yes: both the teens course and the Intensive course cost less per week the longer you stay, so a four-week family stay is not simply four times the one-week total on those two lines. The kids camp does not work the same way: its price per week stays the same whether you book one week or eight, so a longer stay only lowers your overall cost through the course lines, not the camp line. The apartment and the private lesson packs are also priced as published rather than discounted for length, so the clearest way to see your own exact total for more than one week is the course total calculator at the top of our prices page, which works out the figure for your dates.

Will everyone actually be learning at their own level?

Yes, for the teens and adult courses: classes are formed by level after a free placement test, from complete beginner (A1) to C2, so a parent and a teenager in the same family are placed according to what they already know, not lumped together because they arrived on the same booking. That also means a parent should not expect to be grouped only with other parents, or a teenager only with other teenagers: our pages are clear that classmates can be a mix of ages depending on the week, since groups are formed by level. For the kids camp, our pages describe the camp blocks and their prices but do not set out a level-placement process the way the courses do, so if your child already speaks some Spanish and you want that reflected in the camp, ask us directly.

Frequently asked questions

Can my whole family take Spanish lessons together in Málaga?

Yes. Teenagers aged 13 to 17 join the morning Teens & Juniors course, children aged 6 to 12 go to the kids camp, and children can also book one-to-one kids lessons, and parents book an Intensive or Private course at the same school.

Do parents and teenagers study in the same class?

Only if they are placed at the same level. Classes are formed by level, not by family or age group, so a parent and a teenager are placed according to their Spanish level after a free placement test. They finish at the same time, since the teens course and the adult Intensive course both run 9:30 to 13:30.

What does the kids camp cost, and what ages does it take?

Children aged 6 to 12 can join the kids camp, which runs in summer and winter, from €225 a week (evening) up to €440 a week (full-time), with morning and afternoon camps at €250 a week. You choose 1 to 8 weeks, and the price per week stays the same at any length.

Does my teenager need our accommodation if we come as a family?

No. If you are staying in Málaga together, your teenager simply joins the morning classes and goes home with you. Our accommodation (homestay or student residence) is built for students staying without their family.

Where can a family stay if they want accommodation through the school?

Our pricing page lists a private one-bedroom apartment at €400 a week, bookable with your courses. If you need more space, ask us directly, since our pages do not list a larger apartment.

What is the cheapest way to arrange adult Spanish lessons for a family trip?

The lowest weekly price is the Semi-intensive group course, 10 hours a week for €140. The Intensive group course is the cheapest per hour (€200 for 20 hours) but fills every weekday morning, while a 5-hour Private pack (€160) gives the most flexibility.

Is there a discount for booking a family together?

Our prices page does not list a family discount: each person’s course, the camp and the accommodation are priced individually as shown above, and the total is the sum of those public prices. Longer stays reduce the cost per week on the teens and adult courses, but not on the kids camp.

How far ahead should a family book?

As soon as your dates are fixed: our teens page asks families to book early for July and August. There is no enrolment fee or materials fee on any of the courses, so booking early costs nothing extra; it just secures your places and your apartment.

Work out your own family’s total

Every family’s mix of ages, camp hours and course choices is different, so use the course total calculator on our prices page for your exact figure, or send us your dates and ages on WhatsApp and we will work it out with you.
