St. Patrick’s Day Buenos Aires
Do you know Argentina has the 5th largest Irish community in the world? That means you can definitely expect some serious festivities happening here in Buenos Aires this very Saturday, the famous St. Patrick’s Day! For those who have been looking forward to this very day, you probably have made plans already. But for those who just woke up in Buenos Aires and realized the occasion, no need to worry because like many other awesome cities, we celebrate it here too!
Since at this time of the year the weather is still warm and nice, the yearly celebration always takes place outdoor with parades and performances, and then continues all night with the main parties happening along Reconquista street in Microcentro, which is home to several Irish pubs.
The city will be closing up streets in the Microcentro area (Between Paraguay and Marcelo T. de Alvear and between San Martín and Leandro N. Alem) for La Fiesta de San Patricio (St. Patrick Party). There will be a parade at 7 pm starting from the intersection of Arroyo and Suipacha, and slowly makes its way towards Plaza San Martín. It’ll then follow by music shows and Irish dance performances in the plaza. There will also be a family-friendly costume contest of “leprechauns” and “fairies”, both adult and children are welcome!
If dressing up as leprechauns is not your thing and just looking to soak in the festivity with a few pints, there are many bars and restaurants in the city that will turn themselves into “Irish” tonight. While, strictly speaking, there are no authentic Irish pubs in the city, below are a few more pub-like options for your consideration.
